Beau Joubert Range
The Genesis
-
In the beginning, there was nothing. Then, God said, “Let there be wine.” This sauvignon blanc is not that wine, but it was the beginning of something truly special for Beau Joubert. A crisp, grassy white wine featuring delicate flavors of nettle and elegant minerality, The Genesis combines tropical fruits such as ripe papaya and passionfruit with hints of lime and white peach to produce a complex and effortlessly balanced wine. Profound drinkability and an approachable profile mean that each bottle of The Genesis is a new beginning, and in every glass is a fresh – and refreshing – start. Pair with seafood, salads, and hors d’ouevre for the perfect start to any meal. Best served at 10˚C (50˚F)
The Potter’s Wheel
-
Sometimes, if we’re lucky, life turns up the most unlikely of partnerships. Our Potter’s Wheel Chenin Blanc is one such combination. A delicate, complex wine, named after the potter’s namesake (a true bear of a man), using the time-honored practice of battonage in the amphorae clay pots and small oak barrels. Our winemakers have spun together this chenin blanc that balances a confident base of flint and roasted hazelnut against soaring ginger, orange blossom, and the late bloom of lemon verbena. Its aromatics of ripe cantaloupe and nectarine make way for the subtle spice of freshly grated nutmeg on the nose. These refreshing features of a traditional chenin blanc have a round, satisfying profile which pairs beautifully with Mediterranean flavors, spice, and seafood of all sorts. Best served at 10°C (50°F)
Jacob’s Cab
-
Family means everything to us. That’s why we’ve named our cabernet sauvignon after the winemaker’s adventurous son, Jacob. Aged for 16 months in select, small, oak barrels, Jacob’s Cab carries bold aromas of cassis, black currant, and black cherry balanced by subtle undertones of cedar and a tinge of mint. A smooth, luxurious mouthfeel and rich, long-lasting finish help this cabernet sauvignon stand up to even the strongest of pairings. As brilliant with food, as its gastronomically gifted namesake, Jacob’s Cab. It is perfect to serve with a fine meal or as an experience of its own. Best served at 18°C (65°F)
The Ambassador
-
Many of history’s greatest diplomatic ventures have been carried out over a good bottle of wine. At Beau Joubert, we like to think that wine might have tasted a bit like our Ambassador, representing everything we love about winemaking. The Ambassador combines rich currant and red cherry overtones with subtle, lingering notes of mint and plum. Matured for 16 months in select, small, oak barrels, this blend finishes with a touch of leather and pencil shavings which lends itself to an unparalleled drinkability while maintaining the complexity every good Ambassador should have. Whether served now or in 10 years, The Ambassador is the perfect wine for all of life’s new ventures. Best served at 18°C (65°F)
Blanc de Noir MCC - Discontinued
-
This sparkling wine (MCC) is dedicated to Jan Coenraad “J.C.” Visser who first settled our property in 1695. Taking only the best fruit for this elegant MCC; we hand-picked these pinot noir grapes on steep slopes and whole bunch pressed them for the finest juice! The 2nd fermentation was done in the bottle for several years. Giving this MCC incredible depth of character while preserving its beautiful fruit! Best served at 7°C (45°F)
Fat Pig
-
Named in honor of Beau Joubert’s most unlikely sommelier – the friendly pig named “ihagu” (Xhosa for “pig”) who always managed to nibble the vineyard’s sweetest and most exceptional grapes during harvest – our Fat Pig is similarly crafted with only the best red grapes we have to offer. Smooth and slightly dry with a well-rounded body that lingers on the palate after each sip, this fortified dessert wine finishes with a pleasant nuttiness. Traces of red-fruit acid onto firm but silky tannins help to balance this vintage wine, making it perfect for rustic fares, pairing for cheese courses or on its own, as an after-dinner treat. Best served at 15°C (60°F)
